In the twenties there where women called "flappers" who embraced new fashion and urban attitudes. This is the time period when the women of the US start becoming independent, they get their own jobs, they dress in more reviling clothing, and did things men would do. In other words the women pursued a new lifestyle and different roles in society.
Women's Fashion
The twenties brought a huge change on women's fashion, they started wearing more daring and reviling clothes that went with their new attitudes. The wore close-fitting felt hats, bright waistless dresses and inch above their knee, skin tone silk stockings, sleep pumps, and a string of beads, all of which replaced long dark ankle- length dresses, corsets and other clothes of the Victorian days. |
Job Opportunities
Many females' opportunities for getting paid employment changed during this time. They started finding jobs like teaching, nursing, and working as librarians; this led to them working less in factories and setting an image that women are just ac capable of supporting a family as a man is. They started doing jobs that were reserved for men, like driving taxis, flying planes, and drilling for oil. These women broke many stereotypes by doing so. |
